Intro to CAD - SketchUp Basics

  • This class meets remotely (map)

Who is this class for:
This course is open to women-identifying and non-binary folx as well as trans men of any skill level without a prerequisite.

Description:
You’ve built your first few projects and are ready to level up. Wouldn’t it be nice to customize a design yourself? A set of plans are critical before you jump into any project, but how do you effectively convey construction information? In this course we’ll teach you how to “build” your project in 3-D virtual space and then how to share your construction information professionally and effectively using a 2-D layout program. SketchUp is useful for carpenters and woodworkers alike.

Previous Computer Aided Design is not required for this course, however comfort using a computer and virtual meeting software is required. Tutorials are available by request prior to class.

This course meets virtually from 5:30 - 8:00 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 26 - Mar. 20.

Virtual meet links provided upon registration.

Material Fees:
You will be required to purchase an academic license for $55

Course Tuition:
$405 – $855

Sliding Scale Payment:
Since 2020, we have offered a sliding scale for all of our course offerings.  Materials costs are not included in the sliding scale.  Please choose a tuition amount that you can afford to attend this class.

HOW TO CHOOSE A PAYMENT >

  • I consider myself middle income/wealth. Paying this price may be a sacrifice, but I can find the resources to do so. This is the full cost of running a course including paying our teachers a fair wage, covering insurance, maintaining tools and facilities, managing administration, and supporting our family.

  • I consider myself low-income/low-wealth. I cannot access this course without financial help.

  • I consider myself low-middle income/wealth. Paying full price for this course presents somewhat of a financial hardship.

  • I consider myself upper-middle income/wealth. I would like to make a donation on top of the full price of the course in order to help subsidize access for those who cannot pay the full tuition.

  • I have the resources to make a substantial donation to ensure that these classes remain accessible to people of all income/wealth levels.
